Right your wrong brushing habits!

A heathy mouth takes much more than brushing. Have you ever thought about some of your 'good' habits which might actually be harming your teeth and gums?

Brushing too hard and using a hard brush:

More often than not, the shine in your white teeth can be damaged by using a hard brush. Not only that, but too much pressure can often lead to cavities and scratching of the teeth.

Usually, hardened plaque that converts into tartar is a struggle to remove. Well, you should leave it to your dentist, unless you want to harm your teeth more than looking after it. Power wash is not always a powerful option! Soft toothbrush make your job, much easier and quicker.

The lovely share:

Tempted to steal your partner's toothbrush? After all you share your food, drinks and a kiss with them. So why not? Well, here is why:

Not only is it unhygienic but it can welcome a plethora of germs your body isn't prepared for.

You can get sick more often since the virus can stay on a surface for multiple hours. Toothbrushes also home bloodborne pathogens and diseases. In fact, cavities are formed of bacteria and can be extremely harmful and contagious. Sadly, a lot of times one might not be aware of the cavities that their partners have.

You run a brush-athon:

Brushing too quickly is not an ideal thing to do. Brushing your teeth properly prevents your teeth from rotting. When you rush your brush, you're risking behind endless germs, plaque, and food on your mouth. You need to give the fluoride in your toothpaste time to work its charm on your teeth. It needs 2 minutes brushing to improve your enamel health.

Stuck in between?

Normal Brushing cannot get in the gaps of your teeth. To clean and maintain the hygiene of that area you need to floss the teeth. Flossing can be easily carried out by dental floss made of threads or water floss. Flossing should be done twice a day or after every meal to prevent food lodgement and plaque formation in between the teeth. Well, sticking in between is not a great idea. Is it?

Tongue twister?

Remembering to brush your tongue will not only help to prevent bad breath and any lingering bacteria in your mouth but it will also aid to your confidence. A clean tongue is of utmost importance for your oral hygiene. A proper teeth care is incomplete without a clean tongue.

Neglected gums:

Cleaning your gums with a soft brush while brushing can aid to a healthy oral care. Make sure that while cleaning the gums, you are not brushing too hard. Brushing too hard can not only lead to gum bleeding but it can also infect the bleeding cut.

You store your brushes improperly

Leaving your brush on the bathroom counter, storing it in a travel kit or putting it in the holder upside-down... all these habits lead to the accumulation of germs on your toothbrush.

In reality, toothbrushes should be stored in an upright position in the open air. This allows the bristles to dry properly. Don't ever leave your toothbrush on the counter where the liquid stagnates around your toothbrush.

Too lazy to change your routine?

Brushing your teeth the same old way, you're only cleaning the same spots. This might completely neglect some spots in the mouth. This is a great way for those neglected parts of your mouth to slowly accumulate, breed and home more and more bacteria.

So, are you brushing your teeth? Surely. But are you brushing them the right way? Well, that is a question that you need to ask yourself and rectify your bad habits. Lastly, if you are struggling to look after your oral health, the best way is to contact your dentist.
